My name is Rachel Norris, though that much you probably already guessed. I am a portrait photographer in the Nashville area, specifically located in Old Hickory. I shoot on location all over Nashville and the surrounding areas and my specialty is capturing images that are full of light and life. I often aim for an image that feels hugged by the warmth of the sun. I have a son, Court, and a daughter, Evalyn who all are my greatest supports.

I offer simple options in sessions geared mostly towards families, children, seniors, and couples. I also can provide headshots, pet portraits, as well engagment photos. I do have graphic design experience and can aid in the creation of a unique invitation, save the date, Christmas card, facebook banners, and thank you's. 

 

A quick background in how I got to where I am. When I was 14 my dad handed me his Minolta and gave me a crash course in aperture and shutter speed. I was hooked. I took every photography class I could, learning how to process film and work in a dark room while still in high school. Once I went to college in Cincinnati, OH, I majored in Electronic Media which allowed me to learn so much in the lighting field as well as take courses on Adobe Photoshop. I graduated with my BA in 2003 and moved home. I found myself running lights for live music for the next 9 years at the Wildhorse Saloon in historic downtown Nashville. This was an exciting adventure that allowed me to meet many amazing people. Yet my camera called to me always and I found myself taking pictures on the side more and more. I ended up leaving that job to pursue photography full time. I still miss all the amazing people I worked with. My time in lighting really helped me to understand how to best work with it. Lighting is a very important part of my shoots.
